This high performance directional freeride snowboard was designed by Chris to go fast, rip the whole mountain, but keeping it flexy enough to butter your muffin.
Academy Masters Snowboard Features
- Elastomeric Underfoot Stabilizers: These stabilizers are placed directly below the mounting area to provide optimum vibration absorption which helps increase high-speed stability and reduces foot fatigue.
- FDS Damping System: Specifically designed for some of Academy's freestyle models, FDS utilizes thinner rubber foil for a lighter, snappier feel while still providing the legendary NS smooth ride.
- Vario Power Grip Sidecut: This sidecut utilizes multiple radii creating extra contact points to enhance edge hold. A flat section in the rocker area provides a broad contact point when flexed, however when unbent allows the board to track straight and not catch. Flanking this straight section are two shallow radii which provide the second and third contact points. Towards the ends of the sidecut are deep radii which render quick turn initiation and the final contact points.
- Tip to Tail Wood Core: Ultra lightweight Canadian aspen wood core "sandwiched" between layers of fiberglass and base material with specially formulated ABS sidewalls. Time tested performance with excellent torsional stability, edge hold and durability.
- Bi-Lite Fiberglass: Biaxial fibers are laminated from tip-to-tail adding strength and snap without sacrificing weight-savings.
- Carbon VXR Laminate Technology: Carbon VXR extends carbon fiber V's out from the inserts to the effective edge for quick response while stiffening the board torsionally. Additional V's are positioned at the ends of this directional freeride snowboard providing maximum boost and pop when loaded up. This is an ideal layup to transfer energy to the end of the effective edge while still giving the board a softer, more forgiving mid-flex for torsional control.
- Durasurf Sintered 4501 Base: This Sintered, Ultra High Molecular Weight base has excellent wax absorption, resulting in greater speeds without compromised durability, making it easy to maintain. This high end material on the Academy Masters Snowboard is the top choice for serious riders.
- Full Wrap Metal Edge: A full wrap metal edge that goes all the way around the board to add bomber protection to the tip and tail from impact damage.
- Micro Camber: 2 - 3mm or positive camber from the center of the board. This is a subtle amount of camber that offers response without the edge-bite factor more traditional camber boards have.
- Made in the USA: Academy Snowboards are made in Denver, Colorado at the infamous Never Summer Factory.
