After
much speculation, anticipation and just plain rumors
about what the award winning crew at Matchstick productions
has been up to this winter, they are unveiling Ski Movie
2, "High Society" to the world. "High Society" features
world class skiers, Seth Morrison, Shane McConkey, Brad
Holmes, Wendy Fisher, Mike Douglas, Tanner Hall, Kent
Kreitler, Stian Hagen, Vincent Dorion, and Aaron McGovern.
Presented by Helly Hansen, the film will travel to 70
cities across the globe and be sold via major retail
on VHS and DVD. For the winter or 2000 the team at Matchstick
spared no expense chartering an 110-foot yacht complete
with helicopter to ski and explore unskied peaks off
the coast of British Columbia. The team also spent the
month of March heli-skiing in a soon to be famous part
of Northern BC, known as Bella Coola. With it's massive
snowfall and huge vertical, a trip to Bella Coola is
going to be on everyone's wish list next year.
Even though some considered last season a lean snow
year Matchstick managed to find more powder days and
blue skies than thought possible. Morrison and Kent
Kreitler both narrowly survived massive avalanches.
The footage is unbelievable. Also featured is CR Johnston's
130-foot corked 900, quite possibly the biggest aerial
trick to date.
In what will promise to be an unforgettable segment
Shane McConkey and a team from Red Bull led a BASE jumping
trip to the Baffin Islands in the arctic circle. This,
another trip of a lifetime, features incredible 5000
foot freefalls. Some delays off the cliffs were as long
as 30 seconds. No one has ever captured BASE jumping
on film like this. Sponsors of Ski Movie 2 "High Society"
