Notes
for Gotthold Paul Austel:
Information
derived from his daughter Hilda - Gotthold worked in a paint factory and the
fumes caused him to have asthma. Later he developed pneumonia and pleuritis and
died from this.
Second
& third hand information: He was obligated to work in a mustard gas
manufacture for Germany during WW2 and died in
of causes "related to the war" - assumedly from exposure from
the gases. Another account was that he was wounded in the Russian front and
eventually this caused his death.

Notes
for Paul Hermann Austel:
Communications with the granddaughter of Paul
Austel, Liselotte nee Harnisch, provides us with the information that Paul was
the brother of Karl Emil Austel (b. 5/4/1865) and that he died on Jan. 2, 1934
at the age of 58. This would place the year of his birth in 1876. This date
is would mean that Paul was born 9 years
after the death of the wife of his father's wife Johanna Christine Ebenhoh. The
date of her demise was, April 20, 1867, two weeks after the birth of her last
child, Emma Pauline (April 7, 1876) at the age of 33. This raises the
possibility that his father, Christian Wilhelm Austel, who was born February
15, 1929 and was only 47 at the birth of Paul Austel, could have remarried or
entered into a relationship with another partner after the death of his wife,
resulting in another son.
