The first group of some 35 Rotarians of our district that

Anil Garg led to India. This in January of 2000, during my year as governor.
The trip was very successful in that so many of our Rotarians, who were
not aware of the complexities of immunizing the children of the world
against the polio virus, were enlightened and became champions for the
cause. They also encouraged their fellow Rotarian national hosts to become
more intensely involved in the crusade to eradicate polio from the face
of the earth.
After
the National Immunization Days Anil toured us through the Taj Mahal, the
Agra Fort and other interesting sights. When the group returned they became
staunch ambassadors in our district for the cause of polio eradication.
Anil has led two other groups since then, along with the governors of
the involved year. This has strenghted our districts commitment to finish
the job.
Ironically,
Sharon and I were sent to Meerut to join the NID teams there. This is
now where WHO is sending me as a Short Time Consultant and Surveillance
Specialist during the months of August - November, 2004. I will attempt
to update this page weekly, as time and access to the Internet permit.
