and Fenna Austel were engaged in German. John / Hans immigrated to the USA,
got a job and then Fenna came to join him. They were married and had three
boys. The picture to the left was taken in 1978 and is one of the last ones
I have of them together.
The picture of Hermann as a baby also shows their other early treasures, a phonograph player and a singer swewing machine.
Their first car was a Model-T Ford, Then their pride and joy was a 1936 V-8 Ford. It had no problem climbing the hill where they lived.
In 1939 Fenna took her three boys to visit relatives in Germany. The picture of her with the boys was taken in front of her home in Aurich, West Germany.
John dreamt of his boys being musicians and made sure that they all took lessons and practiced daily. Werner, not pictured took up the piano.
